IC Meme - Inside the mind of Hamish MacBeth [Aug. 25th, 2009|12:13 pm]
1. Would you prefer to rescue or be rescued?
Neither, rescues are dreadfully noisy.

2. Adventure beckons. Do you need forcing, or do you leap into action?
If adventure gets too close it will find itself in the nick.

3. The phone rings. An anonymous voice says you have one minute to get out of the house, before they come for you. What do you do?
Strive to be gracious even though they were booked for over an hour ago.

4. If you were attacked right now by ninjapiratezombiegoblins, what would you use to defend yourself?
A rather robust writ. And perhaps some scathing words.

5. What form of media would best be used to commemorate your adventures (books, movies, improvised street theatre etc)?
I have no adventures and anyone who says I have will be receiving a writ shortly.

6. What songs would be on your soundtrack?
It's oh so quiet.

7. The world is in peril from evil scientists. Only a small band of mis-matched heroes can save it. Which side are you on?
Due to client confidentiality I am unable to answer this question. I'm sure you understand.

8. When picking a stylish evening outfit, how much does practicality become a consideration?
Well practically one can never have too many ruffles.

9. When picking a practical adventuring outfit, how much does style become a consideration?
I refer you to my previous answer.

10. As sexual tensions simmer during the tango, fortunes are won and lost in the casino and secrets are bought or stolen in the bar, where are you and what are you doing?
I'm sure I have been nowhere in particular doing nothing special or interesting.

11. How much of a team do you ideally prefer to work with, or do you usually operate alone?
I am of course part of a great nation and only ever act in concert with that great team.

12. What sort of future prospects would your love interest or sidekick have? Is it worth them enquiring about the pension fund?
Most of my sidekicks tend to have no future prospects, terminal stupidity/nobility tends to do them in.

13. Trapped in the barn and tied to a post. Your captor takes some of the tools down from the wall to sharpen, in preparation for your impending DOOM, leaving you alone for a few moments. What do you do now?
Try and get the dirt out from my fingernails.

14. News of the death of your sidekick/partner/love interest reaches you by letter. How could this have happened?
Usually through their own terminal nobility.

15. Revenge is a dish best served how?
Revenge has no place in a just society.

16. An anonymous letter invites you to a clandestine meeting. Do you go?
Of course not - all of my dealings are above board.

17. What is the correct number of knives?
It depends whether or not the starter is soup or fruit.

18. What would be your perfect date?
Well, one that wasn't too ripe yet nice and firm.

19. If the perfect date was interrupted by Zombie Apocalypse, how would you react?
There is always time to finish your date.

20. Did your perfect date already include a Zombie Apocalypse before question 19? In hindsight, would you have changed your answer?
Zombie's are much maligned and misunderstood.

21. Have you been on many dates which would have been improved by global armageddon?
Well, some could have done with whipped cream, but syrup usually is enough.

22. How competently could you disguise yourself?
Why on earth would someone disguise themselves?

23. Is there space for romance in the course of your adventures?
As I have previously stated I do not have adventures.

24. How well do you cope with sudden shifts in genre and pace?
I tend to travel at my own pace and genre thank you very much.

25. If you could pick anywhere to have exciting adventures, where would it be?
Look, I feel I have made it perfectly clear that I do not have adventures.

MeMeMe yanked from Reb/Gemz et al [Jan. 22nd, 2009|02:12 pm]
The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year.
- You have no clue what it's going to be.
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
- I make no promises as to timeliness.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well. We all can make stuff!

bugger [Sep. 16th, 2007|12:44 pm]
I don't know why I did it, I didn't mean to but I blame the BBC.

I'd avoided the whole Heroes thing but the BBC are running a catchup weekend this weekend, which I didn't know about but I was flicking last night and caught the tailend of episode one, then episode two came on straight away and I was caught. So I've seen up to episode 6 with 7 8 and 9 on tonight, damn the BBC.

Wierd moment of Deja-vu while watching as I saw the picture of peter with wings and couldn't help thinking that it looked like some of the art from [info]_tonylee_ the one from his hope Falls stuff that is on the T-shirt.  Funny how life works. Been enjoying the RWC as well, especially England getting grannied by the springboks, only downside to that match was watching Jason Robinson go down with a hamstring - he was the only England player that was playing like he deserved to be in the RWC and it was tragic to watch him go down like that. Also enjoying the surreal world that is Euro 2008, Scotland at the top of the group above France and Italy having played 9 matches, a very strange world at times.

bout what I expected [Sep. 10th, 2007|10:34 pm]

Your Score: House Stark

45% Dominant, 45% Extroverted, 90% Trustworthy

Responsible. Respectable. Dour. That’s not shit coming out of your ass--it’s honor. You are clearly of House Stark.

You are a submissive personality, meaning that you are more than willing to relinquish control to someone more qualified; you will unflinchingly accept any responsibility that is thrust upon you, including servitude. Unfortunately for you, your unending patience and accommodating nature often make people look to you for a leader. In essence, you are the perfect leader: someone who has no desire to lead, yet is substantially well-qualified to do it.

You are also introverted, which means that people sometimes have difficulty understanding your thought process. Your dependable nature makes you predictable, but you’ve probably got all sorts of emotional dysfunctions when it comes to more intimate relationships. There are very few people whom you trust unwaveringly, and you’re not the type to confide in other people. So cold, so aloof--so Stark.

Finally, you are trustworthy--the very definition of the word. All secrets are safe with you. All of your vows are unbreakable. True to your name, you world is a stark place; there is black, and there is white. Your rigidity tends to undercut your overall value as a friend and ally. Honesty such as yours is hard to come by, which is easy to understand when you consider how easily manipulated you are by less decent individuals. Essentially, you’re the nice guy, and you’ll always finish last.

Representative characters include: Eddard Stark, Jon Snow, and Sansa Stark

Similar Houses: Frey, Lannister and Tully

Opposite House: Baratheon

When playing the game of thrones, you play it with one sword in your hand and another up your ass.

I am Me....Hear me snore [Aug. 3rd, 2007|04:12 pm]
This post might come across as a bit selfish but it is whats going through my head at the moment.

I think I am a well balanced and content individual.  I haven't always been so but I am now.  Part of the reason I felt inclined to post this is that the vast majority of the journals I read tend to be dominated by what I term 'angst' - it's a vast generalisation but thats what I do :)

Anyway, I can understand to an extent why this is so - when life is going normally - i.e. not shit and not spectacular just bimbling along, we don't feel the need to post anything on LJ,  and lets face it loads of journals saying 'things are ok today' would get tired very fast.  However I came to the conclusion that it has been a good few years since I have felt overwhelmed by life in any way shape or form.  There are a lot of reasons for this but the main one would have to be the fact that I've been on the planet a fair wee while now and after a while you learn that things do tend to work out over the long run.

I've had my share of shitty stuff happen to me and had to graft pretty hard to get to where I am but overall I've enjoyed my life and still do.  Course a large part of that is being realistic about who I am and accepting who I am and being content with who I am.  Don't get me wrong - there are things I need to change about me but they are slowly but surely changing.  I'm content with who I am now because I'm content that I'm on a journey and the me in the now is different from the me in yesterday and also different from the me that will be in tomorrow.

I suppose what this ramble is trying to achieve is to give some hope to those that are feeling trapped in a pit at the moment.  Things do change and overall they tend to work out in an OK way.  Also whatever doesn't kill you does make you stronger, trust me I know.

In short, I'm content with me and my life and I hope all of you can get to that place too.

(no subject) [Jul. 23rd, 2007|11:10 am]
Watched a couple of movies last night - Deja Vu which was better than I thought it would be and watched Dogma again.  I tried getting Jenny to watch it but she watched maybe half an hour and then said it was crap and she went away to read her book.  I think it all comes down to Jay and Silent Bob - if you like em it's a great film if you don't it's crap.

debating another cinema trip to see transformers but I don't think there is enough other good flicks on to justify it :(

Spent the morning pottering around town (Stornoway) looking at different types of Gravel.  Lovely day for it right enough.  Then went and got lunch at a gorgeous cafe looking out over the harbour called the Woodlands Centre - absolutely gorgeous food and view, Jenny spent most of lunch looking through the catalogue for gravel and decking - ah me.

Got a few websites to try and do on me own time and I've read all my new books :(  Sometimes I wish I read slower.  Still have ordered up a few more so should get them next week.  Been inspired to dig out my omnibus edition of the dark is rising and reread it all, just have to find which box it is in :(

Going to have to organise my books soon - need to get the new book case done.

Looking forward to the Gathering, going to be fun starting a new character.  Might actually learn the rules this time round

Going to Glasgow for a wee break [Jul. 12th, 2007|08:38 pm]
[mood | calm]

Decided I wanted to see Die Hard in a proper cinema so going to fly down to Glasgow tomorrow night and come back up on Monday. Plan is to catch Die Hard and maybe a couple of other flicks on the Saturday then hook up with [info]docduvallon the Sunday - but only for drinks and random chat because both our characters are dead and as there is no downtime we can not of course plot anything.  Thus a certain ban that was decreed from on high about myself and Doc talking plot in the pub shouldn't need to be applied.

Not sure if we will do the port and red wine chasers this time round, but we might.

Puggled [Jul. 11th, 2007|09:20 pm]
[mood | calm]

Bit knackered after catching up with everything that had built up over my holiday.  couple of late nights sorting out my internet accounts and the like as well as I'd been putting stuff off for yonks and was paying for two or three lots of hosting when I just needed to consolidate it all.  But that is just about down, although a few leysites have now vanished mysteriously...muhuahuahua.

Looking forward to the Gathering but was a bit gutted to hear that Duvall and Dickson both copped it.  Still Doc and I will have a pubplotmeet before the Gathering and work out our new characters....muhuahuahua

Might as well start a livejournal since everyone else is ;)

Not massive amounts to say at the moment - looking forward to getting back into LARP at the Gathering, though I have enjoyed the time off as well.

Will say more later but must go work now
